Duel of the Week Rules

iToldYa Duel of the Week Rules and Terms

1. Overview

The iToldYa Duel of the Week ("DOTW") program recognizes outstanding creators who produce engaging, creative, respectful, and high-quality Duel content on the iToldYa platform.

The purpose of the program is to encourage thoughtful discussion, creativity, critical thinking, and entertaining content that reflects the values of the iToldYa community.

Participation in the Duel of the Week program constitutes acceptance of these Rules and Terms.

Winning a Duel of the Week award is a privilege, not an entitlement. Meeting the eligibility requirements or being designated as a Qualified Duel does not guarantee that a prize will be awarded.

2. Eligibility

To be eligible for consideration, a Duel must:

  • Be created using a valid iToldYa account in good standing.

  • Comply with the iToldYa Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

  • Be original content created by the submitting user.

  • Remain publicly available until the weekly judging process has concluded.

  • Not infringe upon the intellectual property or privacy rights of any person.

  • Not contain illegal, offensive, deceptive, or prohibited content.

iToldYa reserves the right to determine eligibility in its sole discretion.

3. Qualification Process

Throughout each qualification period, iToldYa reviews newly created Duels to determine whether they qualify for consideration as that week's Duel of the Week.

To qualify, a Duel must satisfy the minimum participation requirements established by iToldYa.

The current minimum participation requirement is:

  • At least thirty (30) valid community votes.

The minimum vote requirement may be increased, decreased, or otherwise modified at any time at iToldYa's sole discretion as the platform and community evolve.

Votes determined by iToldYa to be fraudulent, automated, duplicated, manipulated, purchased, generated by bots, or otherwise invalid will not be counted.

Meeting the minimum vote requirement does not guarantee qualification.

Qualification is determined solely by iToldYa.

4. Qualified Duels

A Duel selected by iToldYa for weekly consideration will receive a Qualified designation.

Qualified creators may receive:

  • An in-app notification.

  • An email notification.

  • A "Qualified" banner displayed on the Duel.

The Qualified designation recognizes only that the Duel has been selected for final consideration.

Qualification does not:

  • Guarantee selection as the Duel of the Week winner.

  • Guarantee payment of any prize.

  • Create any contractual right or entitlement to compensation.

iToldYa may determine that no Duel qualifies during any particular week.

5. Winner Selection

At the conclusion of each weekly qualification period, iToldYa will review all Qualified Duels.

iToldYa may select one Duel as the Duel of the Week.

Selection is made solely by iToldYa based on factors that may include, but are not limited to:

  • Creativity

  • Entertainment value

  • Critical thinking

  • Persuasiveness

  • Originality

  • Community engagement

  • Overall presentation

  • Video quality

  • Audio quality

  • Lighting

  • Editing

  • Respectful discussion

  • Compliance with Community Guidelines

  • Overall contribution to the iToldYa community

Community voting is considered but is not the sole determining factor.

All judging decisions are final.

6. No Guaranteed Award

iToldYa is under no obligation to issue a Duel of the Week award during any qualification period.

If, in iToldYa's opinion, no Qualified Duel meets the standards expected for the program, no winner will be selected and no prize will be awarded.

7. Prize Amounts

Prize amounts, where offered, are determined solely by iToldYa.

Prize values may vary from week to week.

iToldYa reserves the right to modify, suspend, discontinue, or replace prizes at any time without prior notice.

8. Winner Notification

Potential winners will be notified using the email address associated with their iToldYa account and may also receive an in-app notification.

To claim a prize, a potential winner must:

  • Respond within 48 hours of notification.

  • Confirm their identity if requested.

  • Provide accurate payment information.

Failure to respond within forty-eight (48) hours may result in forfeiture of the prize.

iToldYa may select another winner or elect not to issue the prize.

9. Payment

Current supported payment methods include:

  • PayPal

  • Wise

  • Interac e-Transfer (Canada)

Winners are responsible for maintaining an account capable of receiving payment.

iToldYa is not responsible for delays or failed payments resulting from incorrect payment information provided by the winner.

10. Fraud, Manipulation and Artificial Engagement

The following activities are strictly prohibited:

  • Creating multiple accounts.

  • Vote buying.

  • Vote exchanges intended to manipulate results.

  • Bots or automated voting.

  • Artificial engagement.

  • Coordinated manipulation of voting.

  • Misrepresentation of identity.

  • Any activity intended to unfairly influence the competition.

iToldYa may investigate any suspected abuse.

Where abuse is detected, iToldYa may:

  • Remove votes.

  • Remove qualification status.

  • Disqualify entries.

  • Suspend or terminate user accounts.

  • Revoke previously awarded prizes.

11. Content Standards

All submitted content must comply with the iToldYa Community Guidelines.

Content may be disqualified for reasons including, but not limited to:

  • Hate speech.

  • Harassment.

  • Threats.

  • Illegal activity.

  • Copyright infringement.

  • Pornographic or sexually explicit material.

  • Graphic violence.

  • Dangerous conduct.

  • Spam or misleading content.

12. Taxes

Prize recipients are solely responsible for determining and paying any taxes or reporting obligations arising from receipt of any prize.

13. Publicity

By accepting a prize, winners grant iToldYa a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free license to identify them as a Duel of the Week winner and to use, reproduce, display, distribute, promote, and advertise the winning Duel, associated videos, username, and profile image in connection with promoting iToldYa and the Duel of the Week program, without additional compensation except where prohibited by law.

14. Right to Modify or Cancel

iToldYa reserves the right, at any time and in its sole discretion, to:

  • Modify these Rules and Terms.

  • Change qualification requirements.

  • Change judging criteria.

  • Change prize amounts.

  • Suspend, cancel, or replace the Duel of the Week program.

  • Cancel any individual week's award.

  • Correct technical or administrative errors.

15. Limitation of Liability

iToldYa shall not be liable for technical failures, internet outages, platform interruptions, delayed notifications, payment processor issues, lost communications, or events beyond its reasonable control that affect the administration of the Duel of the Week program.

16. Final Decisions

All decisions relating to:

  • Eligibility,

  • Qualification,

  • Community vote validity,

  • Judging,

  • Winner selection,

  • Prize awards,

  • Rule interpretation,

  • Enforcement,

shall be made solely by iToldYa.

All decisions are final and binding.

17. Governing Law

These Rules and Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising from or relating to the Duel of the Week program shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Ontario, Canada.

18. Acceptance of Rules

By creating or participating in a Duel eligible for the Duel of the Week program, each participant acknowledges that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Duel of the Week Rules and Terms.

Failure to comply with these Rules may result in disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, suspension of account privileges, or other actions deemed appropriate by iToldYa.

Summary

The Duel of the Week program is designed to reward creators who produce exceptional content that enriches the iToldYa community. Qualification is earned by meeting minimum eligibility requirements and being selected by iToldYa for consideration. From the pool of Qualified Duels, iToldYa may select one or more winners—or no winner at all—based on creativity, quality, engagement, and overall contribution to the platform. All qualification, judging, and prize decisions are made at iToldYa's sole discretion and are final.
